Hong Kong Sevens

The annual sporting event is back, along with rugby fans who flood into the city to experience the three-day party. From March 26 to 28, two dozen international rugby teams compete in seven-a-side rugby games, in which the teams of seven battle it out in two halves of seven minutes. In line with the tradition of this event which began in the 1970s, spectators from around the world dress up in outlandish costumes and throw parties in the stands of Hong Kong Stadium in Causeway Bay.

Hong Kong is just one of eight cities visited in the World Sevens Series which runs from December to May, but it is the original tournament which started the transcontinental series. Tickets are no longer for sale, but partying in the rugby village with its large screen right outside the stadium, as well as in the nearby bars, is part of the tradition
