Street Markets

Chinese Emporiums

Cat Street Bazaar

The main street of this bazaar in Sheung Wan is actually called Upper Lascar Row. Walk down Ladder Street and you’ll find an abundance of Asian treasures. There are some fantastic bargains – from old antiques and Chinese porcelain to Mao paraphernalia, but beware of fakes. MTR to Sheung Wan, exit A2. Open 10am-6pm

Ladies' Market

Located in Hong Kong’s most crowded area, Mongkok, this outdoor market features inexpensive bags, accessories such as Hello Kitty watches, women’s and men’s clothing, and children’s toys at bargain prices. Make sure to haggle if you are buying in bulk. Open 12.30pm-10.30pm. Tung Choi Street. MTR: Mongkok, exit E2.

Stanley Market

Try spending the entire day here since Stanley Village is also worth a wander. The market is a small labyrinth of alleyways and streets where you can find a full range of gifts to take home including Chinese art, antiques, porcelain, sportswear, or export clothing shops that offer incredible bargains. Open 9am-6pm. Take bus 6, 6A, 6X, 66, or 260 from Exchange Square bus terminus in Central.

Temple Street Night Market

Opening at 4pm, the area starts to buzz after dark with hawkers, fortune-tellers, palm readers, food stalls, and impromptu Chinese opera singers. Many local residents enjoy the late-night shopping and then sit outside in the open-air restaurants. It’s a fun way to spend the evening. Open 4pm-11pm. On Temple Street in Jordan. MTR: Jordan, exit A.
