Sightseeing - Po Lin Monastery, Giant Buddha and Wisdom Path

Located on Lantau, this is Hong Kong’s largest temple and monastery, housing the world’s tallest outdoor bronze seated Buddha, at 34 metres (111 feet) high. The statue was cast in China and took over 10 years to complete. It sits atop 268 steps and is an astonishing spectacle. Weighing over 250 tonnes, the serene Buddha can be seen amongst the green scenery from miles away. The Po Lin Monastery attracts Buddhists and devout monks from all over Asia. Have lunch at the vegetarian dining hall served by monks and walk along the enchanting Wisdom Path.

Take the ferry from Central Pier 6 to Mui Wo Pier in Lantau, then the No. 2 bus from Mui Wo to the monastery. Alternatively, take the MTR to Tung Chung exit B, then Bus 23 from Tung Chung Town Centre.
