Sightseeing - Chi Lin Nunnery
The serene 1930s Chi Lin Nunnery (rebuilt in 1998) is spread across 3.2 hectares and is China’s largest group of hand-crafted timber buildings incorporating traditional Tang dynasty (618-907 AD) construction techniques. The Buddhist monastery complex contains halls of religious relics and lotus ponds. Nearby is the Nan Lian Garden, a newly opened 3.5-hectar garden, designed in a similar fashion of Tang dynasty landscaping. More information on the garden is available at www.nanliangarden.org.The nunnery is open 9am-4.30pm. Lotus pond garden: 6.30am-7pm. Free admission.

MTR: Diamond Hill, exit C2. A five-minute walk via Sheung Yuen Street then Fung Tak Road. Follow the signs to Chi Lin Nunnery.
